Dip Dem Bedward

This Jamaican folk song gives brief descriptions of the many persons, from all over Jamaica, who came to the healing services conducted by the preacher – Alexander Bedward, in the 1880’s.

Chorus:
Dip dem bedward, dip dem
Dip dem in di healing stream,
Dip dem deep, but not too deep;
Dip dem fi cure bad feeling.

Oh!
Dip dem bedward, dip dem
Dip dem in di healing stream,
Dip dem deep, but not too deep;
Dip dem fi cure bad feeling.

Verse 1
Some come from the east
Like a big leggo beast,
Fi guh dip inna di healing stream.
Some come from the west
Like a perfect pest,
Fi guh dip inna di healing stream.
.

Verse 2
Some come from the north
Wid dem face full a wart,
Fi guh dip inna di healing stream.
Some come from the south
Wid dem big yabba mouth,
Fi guh dip inna di healing stream.
